A 16th century, listed manor house with its parklands and its French formal garden in the middle of a small historic town 10 minutes from Deauville. 90 minutes from Paris via the A13 motorway. 10 minutes from Deauville and Trouville with their attractive but different beaches. 10 minutes' walk from the SNCF train station in the town centre with its links to Paris-Saint-Lazare. In one of the most sought-after streets in this town's historic district, synonymous with a pleasant way of life and authenticity, a site not to be missed by the region's tourists. This property, standing in the town and yet out of sight of onlookers, only reveals its external facade to the street. The tall gates linking the manor house to the outbuilding open into a lawned area in the U-shape formed by the buildings belonging to the property. A French formal garden, with its trimmed boxwood bushes and its cross-shaped layout, separates the residence from the wooded, fully enclosed parklands which extend the property and enable residents to walk through undergrowth in the town centre. The outbuilding's external facade looks out over one of the three rivers flowing through the town as it borders the length of the garden. The manor houseDating from the 16th century and listed as a French Historic Monument, this 2-storey manor house is set out in an L-shape with half-timbered facades and lime-rendered tile fragment masonry filler. The west gable wall is covered with a natural slate cladding. The facade on the road side is built of red brick or glazed and half-timbering, like the row of corbelling on the ground floor. The roof covered with flat terracotta tiles features impressive brick chimney stacks. Roof dormers with overhanging eaves illuminate the attic space which could be converted. The different sized facades on the garden side are built of half-timbering, brick and dressed stone, but are topped with a continuous roof. The half-timbering enhancing the ceiling height of the ground floor is typical of local architecture. Ground floor The inside of the manor house, with its ceilings featuring joists and main beams resting on the massive uprights of the framework, also visible outside on the half-timbered facades, illustrates 16th century construction methods as in an open book. Dressed stone, contrasting with the warmth of wood, forms the end wall of the lounges where the marks of stonecutters' tools are still clearly visible. The terracotta tile floors bear the patina of time. All the rooms have walls featuring half-timbering and dressed stone as well as massive fireplaces and terracotta tile floors, with the exception of one lounge which has floor-to-ceiling panelling, herringbone pattern parquet flooring and a Louis XV style fireplace. The main building that runs alongside the street comprises a vast study-library, a long storage space which houses the boiler as well as a dining room with its separate kitchen, opening near to the entrance gates. A small dining room overlooks the garden. The stairway, with its stone steps, is in the entrance hall. It leads up to the attic via the first floor with its bedrooms and forms a link with the wing which comprises four adjoining lounges. First floor The main stairway landing provides access to five bedrooms and shower rooms. The main building comprises three luminous bedrooms. The first, which opens via double doors, is the size of a master bedroom. It has a plaster ceiling, wallpapered walls and strip pattern, solid wood parquet flooring. A fireplace faces the bedhead and the room has a very deep, large cupboard as well as a separate toilet with a window. The second bedroom has wooden panelling, in which are set concealed doors opening into a wardrobe and a bathroom. It also has a Louis XIV stone fireplace with a trumeau as well as solid wood ...
