IN JOHNNY DEPP’S FOOTSTEPS
Johnny Depp’s extraordinary hamlet close to Saint-Tropez is offered for sale by Michaël
Johnny Depp’s extraordinary hamlet close to Saint-Tropez is offered for sale by Michaël Zingraf, Founder & Chairman of Michaël Zingraf Real Estate and Rick Hilton, Chairman of Hilton & Hyland, two exclusive affiliates of Christie’s International Real Estate.
This 15-hectare property situated in Plan de la Tour near St Tropez was purchased in 1999 by Johnny Depp, who wanted to turn this centuries old stone hamlet into a work of art paying homage to the spirit of the 1930s French countryside. In addition to the main house, the property consists of several guest or staff houses, a chapel, a bar restaurant, an artist’s studio used by Johnny Depp himself, a children’s playroom, a skate park, a professional kitchen and two pools.
«When the actor took ownership of this hamlet, it was in relatively good condition,» explains Michaël Zingraf. «Despite this he wanted to reinvent it stone by stone adding his own personal vision. Notably, by converting the church into a guesthouse and by constructing the amazing wine cellar. The period furnishings were carefully unearthed in flea markets in the region and have become part and parcel of the soul of the site.»
This property’s environment is obviously unique as it is designed to be an open-air work of art, which offers approximately 1000 sqm of living space including 400 sqm in the main house. Among the most striking element is the bar-restaurant «Chez Marceline,» and the beautifully decorated wagon with its bohemian atmosphere, situated in a haven of peace in the shade of a three hundred year old oak. The attention to detail is incredible with for example a sandy beach by one of the pools. The gently sloping fully enclosed site is covered with vineyards, olive groves and ancient trees.
THE RESULT OF LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT
«With over ten million euros in restoration and decoration, Johnny Depp has managed to organise and protect the environment of his property and position each element in the perfect location,» adds Michaël Zingraf. The property is composed of more than twelve bedrooms and twelve bathrooms but the living quarters can be reconfigured atwill by the future owners to welcome friends and family. I should add that the inhabitants of Plan de la Tour have always been respectful of the privacy of the property belonging to this megastar.»
«Moreover, Johnny Depp would like the purchase of his property to occur by virtue of mutual love at first sight. It is certainly no ordinary property but a work of art,» concludes Michaël Zingraf. The buyer must project themselves into the artistic vision of the actor. The asking price is 50 million euros.»
