Dior, Chanel… The biggest names in fashion will unveil their new 2017 spring/summer ready-to-wear collections in Paris from September 27 to October 5. And for the occasion, the organizers have obviously chosen the most beautiful (and most historical!) Parisian venues. Let’s take a quick visit of the monuments and institutions which will be showcasing tomorrow’s fashions.
The whole world will have its eyes riveted on Paris and its elegance during this fashion week, which will take place in the French capital from September 27 to October 5, 2016.
During this week, the biggest fashion houses on the planet, such as Chanel, Dior, Elie Saab, Valentino and Chloé, will unveil their latest creations on the most prestigious Parisian podiums.
Even if you won’t be able to attend certain very private fashion shows, for which some of the locations are still secret, here is the list of those which will be truly unmissable during this Paris fashion week.
In 2015, Barbara Bui, Chanel, Guy Laroche and Thierry Mugler chose the Grand Palais and its 77,000 m2 of space for their spring/summer fashion show. This Parisian monument, situated just a short walk from the Champs Elysees, is one of the most sophisticated locations in the capital. This year, Chloé, Moncler, Gamme Rouge and Barbara Bui have chosen it to present their latest designs. A must-see event for fashion addicts.
Monnaie de Paris
Just opposite the Ile de la Cité, the Hôtel de la Monnaie will host the Courrèges fashion show this year, among others. This very large museum, located in the heart of the capital, regularly hosts major cultural and audacious exhibitions such as Merci Raymond by Bernard Lavier last May. Coin-collecting fashionistas will be able to take advantage of their visit to learn more about minting currencies.
Palais de Tokyo
Rochas and John Galliano have both adopted it: the Palais de Tokyo, located on Avenue du President Wilson, in the sixteenth arrondissement, is a modern and offbeat place, a key venue in the cultural life of Paris. For example, the writer Michel Houellebecq organized his exhibition there. The absolute must in this venue like no other? Its restaurant, Tokyo Eat, which serves an original and generous cuisine. More than an exhibition hall, the Palais de Tokyo is an unforgettable experience.
Arab World Institute
From its façade, which features the historical motifs of Arab geometry, the Arab World Institute surprises and fascinates its visitors. Located in the historical heart of Paris, in the fifth arrondissement, the building is always hosting cultural exhibitions or fashion shows, such as those of the stylists Christine Phung in 2015, and Léa Peckre.
The Tuileries Garden is the top venue of any proper Fashion Week in Paris. Although it’s difficult to walk elegantly in high heels because of the gravel, the verdant atmosphere of the place almost makes you forget that it’s located in the heart of Paris, just a short walk from the boisterous district of Châtelet Les Halles. Every year, the biggest designers choose to present their latest collections there (last year Elie Saab and Valentino chose it) and fashion addicts from all over the world rush to be present.
